A crown (cap) is a restoration that is placed directly on teeth that have lost a lot of their structure. There are various types of crowns, from full porcelain to full metal and several in between. They are also used for cosmetic reasons since a crown will restore the original shape and size of the tooth and fix any discoloration.

A dental or temporary bridge is used to fill in a missing span, upgrade from a partial denture, help reshape a face that’s changing due to tooth loss, help with eating and speaking issues, and give you a smile you can be proud of. Bridges can be fixed or removable.

At our Cameron Park dentist office we understand your need for all the information on crowns and bridges and our fee structures before we talk treatment. Sierra Dental and Orthodontics strives to answer all your questions and will explain the advantages and disadvantages of each kind for you, and keep our dental fees within your budget.

The process of making a crown includes a number of steps, beginning with a careful examination of your teeth, gums and underlying bones, then preparing and taking impressions of the tooth/teeth involved. A temporary crown or bridge is then placed on your teeth. Meanwhile, the impressions are sent to the lab with a color match to your existing teeth, where a mold of the teeth is poured and the work begins. The completed work is sent back to the office; after inspection and any necessary adjustments, it is cemented onto your teeth.
